June 15th highlights a huge group of advertising items with vending machines as well as a super Holliday and Halloween collection. Day one of the sale will feature a large Coca-Cola collection, over 200 impressive country store pieces with over 100 cabinets and displays. The Arthur Richmond collection is an extraordinary testament to history, from its early clocks, mirrors, needlework and blacksmith-forged ironware to its magnificent collection of American fine art, including a superb array of George Washington portraits. Within this important grouping are four especially significant paintings: an early depiction of Washington and his horse at Dorchester Heights, a portrait after Gilbert Stuart, an early Jane Stuart portrait after her father’s Landsdowne portrait, and a portrait – possibly French – depicting Washington in a red jacket, perhaps a Masonic garment.

On Nov. 22, 2008, it will be Morphy Auctions’ distinct honor to present, without reserve, the highly important Americana collection of Arthur Richmond, whose discriminating eye and passion for our country’s early history are abundantly reflected in the acquisitions he made over a 39-year period.
