SUMMARY:Firearms
DESCRIPTION:Auction Starts at 9:00AM\n \nMorphy's May 23 Firearms Auction includes over 800 lots of premier firearms\, knives\, and ammo.\nAll firearms will be on preview in our gallery for 4 week prior to the auction.  We will also be hosting a preview night on Friday\, May 22 from 5:00PM-9:00PM.  All interested bidders will be invited to preview the firearms going up for auction the following day.  Our firearms division experts will be on-hand to answer any questions you have on any of the lots. Cocktails and refreshments will be served.\nEstimated at $80\,000 - $100\,000\, one of the featured pieces in this sale is a Rare Singer Mfg Model 1911 Semi-Auto Pistol.  One of the great rarities in the Colt collecting field.  Singer (Sewing Machine) Mfg Co. was granted an order to produce pistols on April 17th 1940.  They manufactured a total of 500 1911 A1 pistols that were shipped to the U.S. Army Air Force after December 5th\, 1941.  Serial number range is S800001 to S800500.  This pistol is serial numbered S800170\, so it is the 170th pistol manufactured out of 500.  All Singer Model 1911 A1’s were of the highest quality\, polished to a satin sheen\, and finished a Du-Lite black oxide process.  The stocks are made of plastic by the Singer Co. and feature the lightened recess on the inside panel with no screw hole rings.  The gun remains in amazing all original condition.  As to the blued finish\, the gun retains fully 99% of the factory original finish\, there is a one slight rub on left of the trigger guard\, and the lightest hint of high edge wear at the hint of frame.  The grip straps retain virtually all of the blue and there is a hardly a speck of high edge wear at the end of the muzzle.  If it were not for a little light corrosion on the grip frame under the grips (only the edge of which are visible with grips in place from having been exposed to moisture)\, with a patch on the arched mainspring\, the gun is nearly new.  There is an ever so slight drag line.  It has been completely disassembled\, and each part examined for originality.  The barrel and magazine are correct\, as are all the other small parts\, including the special hammer.  The left side of the frame has the “J.K.C” inspector stamp\, along with the proof “P”.  “P” also stamped on top of slide.  Right side of frame is stamped “United States Property” “M 1911 A1 U.S. Army”.  Left side of slide is stamped “S. Mfg. Co. Elizabeth\, N.J.\, U.S.A.” with the square stamps.  We presented this gun to noted Colt 1911 authority Eric Gustafson for complete disassembly for examination of every part\, comparing each to another original Singer on hand.  Every single aspect of this pistol is 100% correct and original to this gun.  It is a standard 5” barrel chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge.  It appears as if the gun saw little to no use at all and must be considered one of the finer condition Singers to ever hit the open market.  A true prize that would be the centerpiece of any advanced Colt automatic collection.\nWe hope you can join us at this impressive auction.\nClick here to view images for this upcoming auction:\n\nNew Gallery 2015/3/18cameramake NIKON CORPORATIONheight 2848orientation 1camerasoftware Ver.1.00 originaldate 3/16/2014 7:54:08 PMwidth 4288cameramodel NIKON D90cameramake NIKON CORPORATIONheight 2848orientation 1camerasoftware Ver.1.00 originaldate 3/16/2014 7:44:22 PMwidth 4288cameramodel NIKON D90cameramake NIKON CORPORATIONheight 960orientation 1camerasoftware Adobe Photoshop CS5.originaldate 11/21/2013 7:38:08 PMwidth 1500cameramodel NIKON D90cameramake NIKON CORPORATIONheight 4188orientation 1camerasoftware Adobe Photoshop CS5.originaldate 11/15/2011 8:25:18 PMwidth 1026cameramodel NIKON D90cameramake NIKON CORPORATIONheight 1984orientation 1camerasoftware Adobe Photoshop CS5.originaldate 12/12/2014 8:26:29 PMwidth 3004cameramodel NIKON D90cameramake NIKON CORPORATIONheight 1500orientation 1camerasoftware Adobe Photoshop CS5.originaldate 12/12/2014 9:00:03 PMwidth 1327cameramodel NIKON D90cameramake NIKON CORPORATIONheight 1144orientation 1camerasoftware Adobe Photoshop CS5.originaldate 12/9/2014 9:53:56 PMwidth 4252cameramodel NIKON D90cameramake NIKON CORPORATIONheight 1012orientation 1camerasoftware Adobe Photoshop CS5.originaldate 11/26/2014 3:16:43 PMwidth 3988cameramodel NIKON D90cameramake NIKON CORPORATIONheight 892orientation 1camerasoftware Adobe Photoshop CS5.originaldate 12/12/2014 9:28:02 PMwidth 4032cameramodel NIKON D90cameramake NIKON CORPORATIONheight 1974orientation 1camerasoftware Adobe Photoshop CS5.originaldate 11/18/2014 5:21:42 PMwidth 3756cameramodel NIKON D90cameramake NIKON CORPORATIONheight 996orientation 1camerasoftware Adobe Photoshop CS5.originaldate 3/16/2014 7:11:51 PMwidth 1500cameramodel NIKON D90cameramake NIKON CORPORATIONheight 2848orientation 1camerasoftware Ver.1.00 originaldate 3/16/2014 8:00:00 PMwidth 4288cameramodel NIKON D90cameramake NIKON CORPORATIONheight 2848orientation 1camerasoftware Ver.1.00 originaldate 3/16/2014 8:08:20 PMwidth 4288cameramodel NIKON D90cameramake NIKON CORPORATIONheight 2848orientation 1camerasoftware Ver.1.00 originaldate 3/16/2014 8:28:23 PMwidth 4288cameramodel NIKON D90
